Biden: Competition Between US, China Shouldn't Turn Into Conflict

The US president said common endeavours are important.

During a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden said that competition between their countries should not turn into conflict. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine.

"We must ensure that competition does not turn into conflict. And we must also manage it responsibly .... This is what the United States wants and what we intend to do. I also believe that's what the world wants for both of us," Biden said.

He also said he and the Chinese leader have a responsibility to their nations and the world to work together when it is in their best interests.

"The critical global challenges we face, from climate change to the fight against drugs and artificial intelligence, require our common endeavours," Biden stressed.

We remind you, Biden and Xi Jinping met on American territory for the first time in six years. The last time the Chinese leader visited the States, when Donald Trump was President.

It is expected that Biden and Xi Jinping will raise global issues, namely the conflict in the Middle East, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, DPRK's ties with Russia, Taiwan, human rights, artificial intelligence, and trade and economic relations.

Biden himself said earlier that his goal at the talks would be to improve relations with China amid tensions in relations related, in particular, to the Taiwan issue.
