‘They've Hated Lukashenka Silently Since Then’

The Belarusian spoke about really corrupt officials.

You go online, read the news, and your thoughts haunt your mind. How could that happen! The one who promised to defeat corruption grew it to such enormous size, writes a reader of Charter97.org.

These days we are observing a new corruption scheme that has been uncovered. This time in the dairy sector. Corrupt officials from the Babushkina Krynka holding were arrested. It seems that the news about corrupt officials from the sugar industry has not yet had time to cool down. Entire regions are affected. Nothing to add. The whole country is full of corruption. We may recall corruption cases of orthopedists, woodworkers, and the medical equipment sector. One could go on and on about those exposed and executed, but the situation does not change significantly.

Of course, they will not torture or kill them in prison, they will simply be asked to share their stolen property. Then they will quietly transfer to a leadership position of another enterprise, where master corrupt officials will establish new “ways” and faithfully serve the Lukashism, praising the dictator. As a sign of gratitude, they will mock their subordinates even more, with the hope of gaining favour and not getting behind bars.

I remembered the situation from the life of our neighbours. They (Peter and Valery) were drivers at a feed milling plant. They had some income there. They were stealing that feed for their pigs and even managed to sell it to their neighbors a lot. They were drinking alcohol every Saturday and praised Lukashenka and his regime: they were saying that whoever is not lazy will always earn money, and only lazy and stupid people do not like the dictator. But their fate was cruel. One well-wisher reported on them, and one day, before my eyes, they were brutally detained, put on the floor, their hands handcuffed behind their backs, and arrested. This story had the following continuation: they were given fines and left to work as drivers, although they were assigned to transport workers. Of course, they manage to steal some gasoline, but this is a completely different level of income. Since then, they began to hate Lukashenka and his gang silently, and after drinking alcohol and relaxing, they stopped wishing good for the dictator.

In my opinion, it is still pointless to fight this phenomenon in the current state. Corruption and theft have flourished and will continue to flourish as long as the dictatorship exists. After all, dictatorship is corruption at the highest level.
