The Man Who Suggested Zelensky Replace Ukrainian Special Forces Commander Is Now Known

The Office of the President of Ukraine claims that Volodymyr Zelensky fired the commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Khorenko, on the recommendation of the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.

This was stated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Roman Mashovets in a commentary to Ukrayinska Pravda.

“According to the law of Ukraine on national security, commanders of types and individual branches of troops (forces) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are appointed and dismissed by the President of Ukraine on the proposal of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. This submission was received by the Office of the President in accordance with the current legislation,” he noted.

The corresponding wording is contained in paragraph 5 of Article 16 of the Law “On National Security of Ukraine”.

Earlier it was reported that Zelensky fired the commander of the Special Operations Forces without the consent of Zaluzhny.

Important to note, Khorenko was appointed to the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces on July 25, 2022.
