Most publications on social media are anti-Israel, but in public opinion polls the majority of respondents express support for Israel, writes the Detali website.

The bias appears to arise from widespread anti-Israel sentiment among young people, whose representation on social media far exceeds their share of the population.

A different picture emerges from public opinion polls. According to polls in the US, France, Sweden, UK and Spain, the majority of the population sympathizes more with Israelis than with Palestinians.

In the US, two polls showed a significant gap in favor of support for Israel, with even younger respondents (18-29 years old) showing twice as much support for Israel in one poll.

Also in France and Sweden, polls show twice as much support for Israel as for the Palestinians. In the UK and Sweden the gap in favor of the Israelis is minimal.
