Father Of Two Minor Children Convicted For Involvement In Protests

The verdict was pronounced by judge Sviatlana Rubakhova.

On November 23, the Zhlobin district court convicted Uladzislau Korzun under Part 1 of Article 342 (“organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them”) of the Criminal Code. Judge Sviatlana Rubakhova sentenced Uladzislau to two years of restriction of freedom without sending him to a specialized institution, human rights activists report.

The man has been held in custody since September 8, 2023. He was accused of participating in protests on August 9, 2020 and entering the roadway. Uladzislau fully admitted his guilt.

After the verdict was announced, the man was released from custody in the courtroom.

Uladzislau Korzun has a secondary specialized education and is raising two minor children. He worked as a salesman for an individual entrepreneur.
