MTZ And BelAZ Top Managers Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison

The property of the accused has been arrested.
The Frunzenski District Court of Minsk issued a verdict in the case against top managers of BelAZ and MTZ. They were found guilty of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, including by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, former first deputy general director of BelAZ Aleh Stsiapuk was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He is also deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative, managing and economic duties and the commission of legally significant actions for 5 years.
The same term of imprisonment was assigned to Deputy General Director of MTZ Siarhei Sirotsenka. In addition, he was given a fine of 2,500 base fees (92.5 thousand rubles). Sirotsenka is also deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative, managing and economic duties and the commission of legally significant actions for 5 years.
Other officials of these enterprises were sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years with a fine in the amount of 1,000 (37 thousand rubles) to 2,000 (74 thousand rubles) base fees with deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the implementation of organizational, administrative and managing duties, and performing legally significant actions, for 5 years.
In addition to Sirotsenka and Stsiapuk, charges were brought against the following people:
Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss company Swiss Trading Group AG Siarhei Iokau,
Deputy Technical Director of MTZ Siarhei Hancharou,
Deputy Technical Director of MTZ Anatol Kandratovich,
Chief technologist of MTZ Aliaksandr Lebedzeu,
Head of BelAZ tool production Valer Hulakou,
Tool engineer at the BelAZ tool production purchasing bureau Sviatlana Radzivil.
The prosecutor's office does not specify what exact prison terms were given to these defendants. The trial has been going on since June of this year.
The property of the accused was left under arrest to ensure the execution of the sentence regarding property penalties.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force. It can be appealed.
Seven officials from two enterprises were detained in November 2021. According to the prosecution, they received bribes in the form of cash and real estate for winning tenders for the supply of expensive equipment, as well as timely payment for goods. About $100 thousand was seized.
