'It's Nuclear Option, Signal To Lukashenka That We Can Cut Him Off Completely'

This is what the major Polish media say about the shutdown of the Bobrowniki crossing point.

As reported by Charter97.org, Poland has decided to close the border crossing point "Bobrowniki" on the border with Belarus in the interest of national security.

A source in the government of one of the major Polish radio stations, RMF24, said that Warsaw's decision is a response to the sentence upon Andrzej Poczobut and other actions of the Belarusian regime against the Polish minority.

"This is a nuclear option and a signal that we can completely cut Belarus off from the West," the radio station said. Therefore, decisions to close the checkpoints at Terespol and Kukuryki are not ruled out.

Gazeta Wyborcza, one of the largest media outlets in Poland, also sees a direct link between the sentence against Poczobut and the closure of the checkpoint, as the decision on "Bobrowniki" and the promise of new sanctions because of the trial against the journalist was in a report of the Polish Interior Ministry.

We remind that Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland Mariusz Kaminski announced that the checkpoint "Bobrowniki" on the border with Belarus would be suspended on February 10. He says the decision to close "Bobrowniki" was made "for the sake of national security".

Earlier, in 2021, the Polish side closed the checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border "Bruzhi-Kuznica" because of the migration crisis. Even earlier, in 2020, the checkpoints "Slovatyche-Damachova" and "Polovtsy-Piashchatka" were closed at the initiative of the Polish side because of COVID-19.

Thus, only two operational checkpoints remain on the Belarusian-Polish border - the only checkpoint for trucks to Poland remains Kukuryki (on the Belarusian side - Kazlovichy), and for cars - Terespol (on the Belarusian side - Brest).
