Baranavichy activist Mikalai Charnavus Jr. was released after 15 days in jail, reported human rights activists.

He was detained on February 2 in Baranavichy; his house was searched. According to neighbours, at 6am about 10 law enforcers in flak jackets and with guns surrounded his private home, then climbed over the fence and banged loudly on the windows, demanding to open the door. After the search, Mikalai was taken out in handcuffs with his hands behind his back.

On February 7, the activist was tried in Baranavichy. He was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for "distribution of extremist materials" under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences. On Monday, February 20, Mikalai Charnavus was released.

It is known that a criminal case under Art 368 of the Criminal Code ("insulting Lukashenka") was brought against him, but the status of Mikalai is unknown.
