CEOs Of Five Companies Involved In Supply Of Medicines, Medical Equipment Detained In Belarus

The State Control Committee said it had detained officials of five private companies that supplied medical and pharmaceutical products to healthcare facilities. The number of detainees and the names of the companies have not yet been disclosed.

According to the State Control Committee, employees of private companies negotiated with foreign manufacturers of goods on their delivery to the territory of Belarus to Belarusian business entities through fake intermediaries. The delivery was documented through controlled foreign organizations. They, in turn, having raised the price of goods for individual items by 4-5 times, sold it to Belarusian companies.

As a result, the difference in prices settled on the accounts of foreign intermediary firms controlled by Belarusian companies.

The damage caused to the state in the form of unpaid taxes amounted to more than 8.9 million rubles, according to the State Control Committee.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the founders and heads of the companies. At the same time, two of the defendants were detained at the Losha checkpoint while trying to leave abroad.

The suspects have given confessions and are assisting in the investigation of criminal cases, the State Control Committee reports.

More than 250 thousand US dollars and 55 thousand euros were confiscated from them. The property of the suspects, including real estate and cars, was seized.
