AFU Breakthrough Near Bakhmut: Russians Retreating

  • 11.05.2023, 8:31

There has been a collapse of the Russian troops' flank.

The Russian flank in the Bakhmut direction has collapsed. The AFU pushed back the enemy to about 2km north of the town.

Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU, who is directly involved in the defence of Bakhmut, confirmed the information on his official Telegram channel.

"The enemy was not able to hold the attack... and retreated to a distance of up to 2 km," the colonel-general wrote.

He did not specify which area he was referring to. However, it is not a secret. It is known that this refers to the "left claw" of the Russian occupants near the settlement of Khromove, with which they were planning to encircle Bakhmut from the north.

The commander specified that the reason for the enemy's military failure was that the enemy's defence there was held by weak and unprepared forces.

Part of the occupants fled when the AFU attacked them, while another part was liquidated or taken prisoner during the battle.

"Despite a significant concentration of troops and loud statements by Russian war criminals about plans to take Bakhmut before May 9, the enemy was never able to capture the town," Syrsky stressed.

He thanked the 3rd brigade of the AFU. It was it that heroically carried out this successful operation north of Bakhmut, pushing the Russians away from the town.

Several companies of the 72nd Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as units of the Wagner PMC were defeated there.

The day before, Andriy Biletsky, Azov's first commander, published footage of the successful operation near Bakhmut, which was carried out by fighters of the 3rd SABr of the AFU. OSINT analysts geolocated the footage and noted that the events took place south of Bakhmut near the village of Klyshchyivka.

Corresponding changes have already appeared on the DeepState online map: the front line of about 2 km has moved 1 km deeper towards the enemy.
