Lukashists To Transfer More ‘Maneuver Groups’ To Poland, Lithuania Borders

The State Border Committee of Belarus is allocating new forces to “protect” the borders with the EU. Now mobile groups are being formed in two directions, BelTA was told by the chairman of the State Border Committee Anatol Lappo.

“In the past, we formed one maneuver group in the Mazyr detachment (about 300 people), now the situation is such that we are forced to form one maneuver group in the Lida direction, and another one — as a reserve in the Brest direction. It will be autumn — maybe they will not be needed there, we will transfer them to another direction,” said Lappo.

The maneuver group is the main reserve of the border detachment. Usually it is a small, mobile, well-trained and equipped unit.

It was previously stated that Belarus plans to increase the number of some units on the southern border.
