Aliaksandr Tarakanau is the judge responsible for the decision.
One of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition, political prisoner Pavel Seviarynets, has served in a penal colony for more than three years.
In May 2021, he and six other political prisoners were sentenced to 4-6 years in penal colonies. The trial was held behind closed doors.
In April, the administration of correctional colony No. 17 recognized Pavel as a "malicious institutional treatment violator". Then they cut his allowed phone calls outside and money transfers, and then he was deprived of long meetings.
Human rights activists have learned that on June 21, a trial will be held in Shklou to change the detention regime for Pavel Seviarynets and transfer him to another correctional facility. Presumably, they want to transfer him to prison. The decision will be taken by judge Aliaksandr Tarakanau.
