Powerful explosions occurred in the regional centre of Russia.

Loud explosions were heard in Kursk, Russia, during the night of June 23.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion was so strong that car alarms went off in many neighborhoods, the UNIAN news agency reported.

However, Roman Starovoit, the governor of Kursk Region, said that an unknown drone was allegedly "shot down" over the city.

However, even after the "shooting down of the drone", eyewitnesses reported powerful repeated explosions.

"Explosions in Kursk. According to local residents, two explosions were heard - near the railway station and Dubrovinsky Street. According to one version, it could have been Ukrainian drones and air defence work. The footage shows a flash in the sky above a multi-storey building and rumbling can be heard. A siren is on in some parts of the city," Russian Telegram channels reported.

Russian media later reported another explosion in Kursk. "According to local residents, the sound came again from the side of the airfield," Mash notes.
