AFU Break Through Defense Line Prepared By Russians For Months Near Bakhmut

A battalion of Russian troops has been defeated on the southern flank.

Heavy fighting continues near Bakhmut. The Ukrainian military succeeded in breaking through the enemy defense line there which they had been preparing for months.

It was done by fighters of the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the 28th SMBr named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. They stormed the positions of Russian invaders near Kurdyumivka south of Bakhmut, reports the brigade's press service.

A video posted by the battalion of the 28th SMBr shows the work of the first mechanized company. It managed to defeat the enemy battalion. As a consequence, 35 fighters joined the ranks of the "two hundred", 40 escaped and several other invaders surrendered.

According to the Ukrainian defenders, this is an important success. After all, they managed to break through the defense, which the Russian invaders had been preparing for months. And this was achieved through long and titanic work, tireless training and cohesion.

"Remember, a counterattack is not a movie or a funny video on social media. If you are 'tired of war', imagine yourself in the shoes of the guys in the BMP flying into the assault," the fighters say.

Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar has commented on the situation around Bakhmut. According to her, the Ukrainian offensive in this direction continues. Hanna Malyar noted that the Ukrainian military succeeded in advancing on the flanks on a daily basis.
