‘Mysterious Russian Games’: Military Analyst Explains Why Girkin Was Arrested

The ex-leader of the “DPR” terrorists is just a cogwheel.

A war criminal, ex-leader of the “DPR” terrorists Igor Girkin (Strelkov) has been detained in Russia. Three days before his arrest, he called for the overthrow of Putin. Why did the Kremlin decide to get rid of the mouthpiece of the ultra-patriots?

The Charter97.org website spoke about this with the co-director of foreign policy and international security programs at the Razumkov Center, First Assistant to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine (2005-2008), military expert Oleksiy Melnyk:

I have been wondering for at least two years now why he is still alive. There is an expression “mysterious Russian soul”, and these are “mysterious Russian games”.

It is clear that someone was behind him. Girkin thought he was some kind of big player, but behind him was a puppeteer who allowed him to do this in reflexive control mode. Either this puppeteer was gone, or he was told “enough”. Girkin, with all his puffed out cheeks, is a cogwheel that has imagined itself to be some kind of big arbiter of destinies and history.

He didn't necessarily go every week and get directions from the puppeteer. There are quite interesting Russian fiction books on this subject. For Russians, this is a common thing. A classic canvas that I have seen in Russian publications. Very often, such players are removed either physically or in some other way. For Girkin, this moment has come.
