The North Korean ammunition “covered” the invaders near Bakhmut.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine used missiles made in North Korea to attack Russian positions.
According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian forces near Bakhmut used North Korean shells for the Soviet Grad MLRS. As stated in the material, most of the ammunition was made in the DPRK in the 1980s and 1990s.
North Korean projectiles often misfire or fail to explode. The ammunition is highly unreliable, but Ukraine's defenders need every missile they can get.
As the material says, since North Korea is considered one of the few allies of Russia, it is unlikely that Pyongyang independently supplied these ammunition to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military said that these missiles were “seized from the ship” by a friendly country. They refused to provide more details though.
