Polish Nation-Wide Voting Considers Unexpected Belarus-Related Issue

The ruling party came up with the initiative.

Law and Justice (PiS), the ruling political party of Poland, proposed to put the issue of the existence of the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border to nation-wide voting. The citizens are to answer if they support its liquidation.

Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak announced this on Twitter.

According to the minister, one of the four questions that the Polish authorities want to submit to the voting is: "Do you support the removal of the barrier on the border between Poland and Belarus?"

“The people will decide whether our border will continue to be permanently protected and whether it will be safe,” Mariusz Błaszczak added.
