A new government decree changes the current procedure for military and special training camps. The corresponding document was published on the National Legal Internet Portal. Journalists of zerkalo.io compared the old and the new version - and we tell you about the main changes.
Check Reserve Training - Up to 60 Days Instead of 35 Days
The reserve training is divided into several categories: reserve training for enlisted personnel; reserve training of persons liable for military service in military occupational specialities; reserve training for the maintenance of inviolable reserve equipment; reserve training to check the mobilisation readiness of military units and other military formations (check-up training).
This gradation has remained in place. But the terms of some categories have changed. If earlier the check-up training camps were up to 35 days, the new decree increases their duration up to 60 days.
Some People To Be Called Up For Reserve Training More Often
The old document clearly stipulated how many times the persons liable for military duty could be called up for reserve training and for what duration. In the new decree, the duration of training camps has been removed, while the number of call-ups has been left.
The changes have also affected reserve officers. And here everything looks much more serious, although the duration of training camps and periodicity are also not specified in the new edition.

Another change: previously, "persons liable for military service who are fit for military service according to their health condition" were sent to military and special training camps. The new document envisages that "persons liable for military duty who are fit for military service according to their health condition, fit for military service with minor restrictions, as well as those with limited fitness for military service in wartime (with their written consent)" will be called up for reserve training.
The amendments also suggest strengthening the role of the KGB in conducting reserve training. For example, previously the selection of candidates for military and special training camps was carried out by military commissariats, and they could invite persons liable for military service to clarify their records. Now regional departments of the State Security Committee will also be able to do this. By the way, if previously it was required to come to the military commissariat with a summons to attend the training camp, now it may be the "Department of the State Security Committee in the region".
The decree comes into force after its official publication.
