What entry points are they talking about?
Lithuania is going to close two more entry points on the border with Belarus. Lithuanian Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė made a statement, according to BNS.
“The Ministry of the Interior will propose to close two more points. Precisely the Lavorishki point [the Belarusian Katlouka - Ed.] and the Raigardas point [the Belarusian Pryvalka - Ed.],” Agnė Bilotaitė said at a meeting with colleagues from the Baltic countries and Poland in Warsaw on August 28.
The minister noted that the proposal has already been drafted, the decision on this issue "should be made in the near future."
According to the minister, the decision to close two more entry points was made in order to strengthen the country's security and in order to solve the problem of smuggling.
On August 28, representatives of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland discussed at a meeting in Warsaw a mechanism for the complete closure of the borders with Belarus. Agnė Bilotaitė has previously said that there is no information on threats yet, due to which such measures would have to be taken.
Recall that on August 18, Lithuania had already closed two entry points on the border with Belarus: Shumskas [the Belarusian Losha point - Ed.] and Tveryachyus [the Belarusian Vidzy point - Ed.]. It was a response to possible threats from the Wagner Group mercenaries.
