Migrants Penetrate Poland Across River From Belarus

Some of them had to return back.

Over the past 24 hours, 36 foreigners, including Sudanese citizens, tried to enter Poland from Belarus. 20 of them returned to Belarus at the sight of Polish border patrols.

14 foreigners illegally crossed the Leśna Prawa River in the Bialowieza section, 2 people returned to Belarusian territory at the sight of patrols and 12 Syrians were arrested, the Polish Border Service reports.

This year, the Podlaskiy Department of the Border Guard spent 1.2 million zlotys (about 258,000 euros) on hospitalization and examination of migrants who illegally crossed the border from Belarus.

According to the Polish authorities, there were cases when foreigners who received assistance in medical institutions left the places where this assistance was provided.

It is reported that a Syrian citizen escaped from a hospital in Hajnówka.

“She stated that she wanted to stay in Poland and apply for asylum. After illegally crossing the border from Belarus to Poland, a woman received all possible help. Border Guard officers called an ambulance for her. According to the decision of medics, she stayed in the infectious diseases facility,” the Polish Border Guard said in a statement.

41 people were arrested on the Latvian-Belarusian border, no illegal penetrations were disclosed at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.
