Belarus Announced Border Violation By Polish Military Helicopter: Poland Responds

On September 1, the State Border Committee of Belarus announced a “violation of the airspace of Belarus by Poland” in the Berastavitsa district of the Hrodna region. The border department reported that “a Mi-24 military helicopter crossed the state border at an extremely low altitude”, flew to a depth of up to 1,200 meters into the territory of Belarus, and then returned back.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus summoned Poland's Charge d'Affaires in Belarus Wojciech Filimonowicz. He was demanded to provide “appropriate explanations and a thorough investigation of the incident”.

Representative of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces Jacek Goryszewski refuted the State Border Committee's statement about the violation of the Belarusian border by a Polish military helicopter, writes Wprost.

“The information published by the Belarusian side is provocation and false accusations. According to all reports and records of radar systems, it can be stated that the border was not crossed from our side,” he said.

According to him, such actions of Belarus and Russia are a common occurrence. “Any statements of the Belarusian special services should be treated with great caution,” added the representative of the Polish Armed Forces.
