This year, another top manager died at the plant.
On August 30, shortly after his arrest, Yauhen Ivanou, the 34-year-old deputy director for ideology at the Zhodzina Heavy Forging Plant, died.
The media reported that he could have been detained for a bribe, and the man died, probably on his way to Minsk for interrogation due to heart problems.
Yauhen Ivanou was buried in Zhodzina the day after his death.
Journalists of zerkalo.io learned new details of this story.
“He was buried the day after his death, on August 31,” says a Zerkalo source at the plant. “Why such a hurry? Most likely due to the heat. It was 32 degrees in those days. (...) On the way to the cemetery, the coffin was brought to the plant — for a farewell ceremony. This is the tradition. Then there was a funeral service in the church. They say in the city that Yauhen Ivanou died due to heart problems. They did not even manage to take him to Minsk for interrogation.
The media wrote that residents of Zhodzina saw beatings on the body of Yauhen Ivanou. Our source was unable to confirm this information.
According to the interlocutor, Yauhen Ivanou left behind a wife and two small children, a boy and a girl.
“As far as I know, they detained him demonstratively: show masks, handcuffs. There was no resistance,” says our source. “Yauhen worked at the plant for many years. At first he was deputy head of sales (marketing department), then he headed the department. This year there was another death at the plant — one of the leaders died due to problems with the liver. A reshuffling began — and Ivanou was transferred to the ideological department”.
According to the interlocutor of Zerkalo, Yauhen Ivanou could be suspected of a bribe he received while working in the marketing department.
Yauhen Ivanou was detained on the evening of August 30, after work. The next day, on the morning of August 31, condolences appeared on the official Telegram channel of the Heavy Forging Plant in connection with the death of a man.
