Belarusians At Commemoration Rally In Warsaw: Lukashists Killed Vadzim Khrasko In Prison

Dozens of Belarusians came with portraits of Vadzim Khrasko and white-red-white flags to the Belarusian embassy in Warsaw, said Alena Talstaia, co-chairman of the Razam Solidarity Movement.

On January 13, at 18:00, people gathered near the building of the diplomatic mission in protest against the next death of a political prisoner behind bars.

Recall that it became known recently that 50-year-old political prisoner Vadzim Khrasko, who was convicted for donations, died on the night of January 8 to 9, 2024 in penal colony #3.

Representatives of the Viasna Human Rights Center Dzmitry Salauiou and leaders of the Razam solidarity movement, Viachaslau Siuchyk and Alena Talstaia spoke at the rally.

After a silence minute, the participants lit candles at the spontaneous memorial.

According to human rights activists, Vadim Khrasko had a number of diseases and was seriously ill in prison. The official cause of death was pneumonia. Vadim was taken to the hospital when it was no longer possible to save him. On January 12, 2024, Vadim Khrasko was buried in Minsk.

It should be noted that this is the fourth death among political prisoners behind bars.

On May 21, 2021, political prisoner Vitold Ashurak died in the Shklou prison. On January 5, 2022, political prisoner Dzmitry Dudoits committed suicide in Mahiliou. On May 7, 2023, political prisoner Mikalai Klimovich died in prison.

On July 11, 2023, the artist Ales Pushkin died of a perforated ulcer in the Hrodna prison.
