Andrei Sharenda: We Must Not Give Lukashenka Chance To Get Back On His Feet Again

The sanctions that are about to be introduced only cause laughter.
The Lukashenka regime is increasing pressure inside Belarus, another political prisoner has been killed in prison, arrests and searches are taking place throughout the country, but there is no answer in sight.
“There is no adequate solidarity from European politicians, including Belarusian ones,” says Andrei Sharenda, an activist of the European Belarus campaign, the husband of political prisoner Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk.
In his opinion, the sanctions that are going to be introduced only cause laughter, writes racyja.com.
— It’s ridiculous to introduce sanctions now, after three years of struggle, after dozens of deaths, against some isolated officials or against some isolated companies. Lukashenka has learned to circumvent these sanctions, it simply does not work.
Andrei Sharenda is also against any negotiations with Lukashenka regarding the release of political prisoners by lifting sanctions:
— In fact, we are talking about lifting sanctions for the release of several dozen, perhaps hundreds of political prisoners. We already went through this 10 years ago, when at that time several dozen political prisoners were released for the lifting of sanctions. But we saw what happened a few years later — in 2020, when repressions were tightened, there were deaths and hundreds of thousands left Belarus. This is a catastrophe. If we now give Lukashenka a chance to get back on his feet again, next time it will be open terror against the Belarusian people, because not only political prisoners are held hostage by the Lukashenka regime, but all 9 million Belarusians who are now in their homeland.
According to Andrei Sharenda, his wife is again under a complete information blockade in Zarechcha colony #24. From the moment she was transferred to the colony, only a short message came from her, in which Palina asked to give her warm clothes, which implied that she was very cold there. The political prisoner’s family knows nothing more about her at the moment.
