Lithuanian Foreign Minister: Putin's War Is Regional War Not Only Against Ukraine

The Kremlin regime could remain in power for a decade. To counter its threats, it is necessary to develop the right strategy of defence against Russian aggression.
This was said by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Asked about the European establishment's readiness for the second Cold War between the West and the Russian Federation, Landsbergis noted that they have already identified its course.
As the Latvian foreign minister stressed, Putin's war is a regional war not only against Ukraine, but against Europe and the West in general.
"If it comes to that, we will start calling it Cold War 2.0 or whatever, it will be a war we did not choose. It's not our thinking, it's not our strategy. It has been imposed on us," Landsbergis said.
According to the Latvian Foreign Minister, there has been a "flood" of military politicians talking about the likelihood of the existence of military realities and urging to prepare for them.
Therefore, Landsbergis said, it is necessary to be prudent and thoroughly prepared for the development of such a scenario.
NATO preparing for possible escalation
Earlier in the day, Admiral Rob Bauer, head of NATO's Military Committee, said that the Alliance needed to transform itself and that the West should prepare for an era in which anything could happen at any time, including the outbreak of war.
His comments came against a backdrop of delayed or limited military aid to Ukraine from the US and the European Union. On 16 January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that the West's hesitation to support Kyiv and fears of an escalation of the war with Russia could continue fighting for years.
Earlier today, the German tabloid Bild reported that NATO will hold a large-scale exercise in February involving some 90,000 troops. The scenario of the exercise is an attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of the North Atlantic Alliance.
On the eve of yesterday's meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, which focused on the AFU's response to a large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation, the head of the military committee of the North Atlantic Alliance, Admiral Rob Bauer, urged the world community not to fall into pessimism.
