Surprising Statement About Ukrainian Military By Russian Prisoners Of War

That's what they said.

Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets said that during the last large exchange of prisoners, Russian soldiers thanked Ukrainians for humanism.

Lubinets published a video of the talk with Russian prisoners of war who were waiting for an exchange.

"Another confirmation that Ukraine strictly adheres to the Geneva Conventions. It is important that the Russians once again said that they have no complaints and thanked for humanism, "he said.

To the Ombudsman's questions to the Russians about how they were treated in captivity, they answered: "good", "normal", "humanly", "safe and sound".

"We expected a different attitude, not such a positive one. Honour and dignity were not humiliated, they treated us normally," said one of the captive occupiers.

The Russians said that they were allowed to call relatives from time to time, write and receive letters, and enjoy medical care.

Lubinets advised the invaders to tell it when they would return home.

"We want exactly the same conditions for Ukrainian prisoners of war," the ombudsman said.

He also wished the Russians to stop coming to Ukraine with arms. Some of them said they were not going to fight.

On January 3, Ukraine returned 230 military and civilian prisoners from Russian captivity. Among them are 130 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 55 national guardsmen, 38 border guards, one police officer and six civilians who were illegally deprived of their liberty.

This is the largest prisoner exchange since February 24, 2022.
