Handelsblatt: NATO Initiates Fundamental Shift In Aid For Ukraine Strategy

The Alliance takes military supplies into its own hands.

NATO plans to take over the coordination of arms supplies to Ukraine, despite the fact that the alliance has always considered assistance to Kyiv a matter of sovereign decisions of member countries and bilateral agreements, and not its program.

This was reported by the German newspaper Handelsblatt, citing sources in diplomatic and political circles.

“A fundamental change of course is beginning within NATO: the Western defense alliance is preparing plans to take over the coordination of arms supplies to Ukraine,” the material says.

It is noted that the leadership of the bloc considers it advisable to integrate the Ramstein format into its own structures in order to protect itself from possible political changes in Washington. NATO, according to the publication, increasingly doubts that the United States will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine if former American President Donald Trump wins the election in November.

The newspaper writes that the development of the integration plan was carried out by the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, Jake Sullivan, and the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.
