Bundestag Member Calls For Crushing Blows Against Russia

  • 10.02.2024, 8:54

Russian military objects and headquarters must be destroyed.

Member of the Bundestag, expert of the Christian Democratic Union on defense and foreign policy Roderich Kiesewetter said that it is time to realize what Russian President Vladimir Putin is doing, and draw conclusions. He said this in an interview with the German publication Deutsche Welle.

At the same time, the deputy emphasized that Germany itself should not be drawn into this war. He said that the Russian Federation is bringing war to the world, instead of becoming a force for peace. Therefore, the war in Ukraine should be transferred to the territory of the Russian Federation.

“Russian military facilities and headquarters must be destroyed. We must do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine is able to hit not only oil refineries in Russia, but also ministries, command posts and gun emplacements. It’s time for the Russian people to realize that they have a dictator who is sacrificing the future of Russia, sacrificing the future of Russian youth and ethnic minorities,” Kiesewetter noted.

According to him, if Kyiv is defeated, millions of Ukrainians will leave the country, threatening the cohesion of European states.

“This will also show that the West is unable to stop a dictator like Putin, who mindlessly sacrifices hundreds of thousands of his soldiers in terrible bloodshed,” the German deputy noted, emphasizing that it is time for Russia to finally recognize the right of its neighbors to exist.

Kiesewetter also touched upon the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine, noting that he expects a decision on the transfer of TAURUS missiles to Ukraine after the return of Chancellor Olaf Scholz from Washington.

“I expect that he (Olaf Scholz — edit.) will stir up the Senate and the House of Representatives and that he, who never makes decisions himself, will finally get the green light for the supply of TAURUS cruise missiles,” the Bundestag deputy concluded.

On February 8 and 9, Olaf Scholz is visiting the United States. Media reported that the issue of supporting Ukraine should be one of the key topics in his conversation with President Joe Biden.

Ukraine will receive military assistance from Germany and EU countries if the United States is unable to resume funding. A representative of the German Federal Government spoke about possible follow-up actions during a press conference on February 9.
