Two former mercenaries went over to the Ukrainian side.
Former Russian prisoners of war, who fought in the ranks of the Wagner PMC, and later went over to the side of Ukraine and are now fighting as part of the Russian Volunteer Corps, told how they were recruited, how they were prepared for the front, how they were treated in captivity and what changed their views.
The corresponding video is published by the Telegram channel “Present Time”.
According to them, in PMCs “you don’t know who you can trust and who you can’t trust.”
“You just do one task. Otherwise, then you start to sow confusion — it will reach your superiors, and you will be fired,” said one of the prisoners.
According to him, the Russian military leadership is “simply throwing them there as meat.”
“When you sign a contract, it’s all stated there: that in case of desertion — execution, in case of failure to comply with orders — execution, in case of looting — execution,” said the Russian.
Another interlocutor noted that the so-called “Storm-Z” battalion is a “penal battalion” in the modern Russian army.
“This unit is intended for reconnaissance in force. That is, how many people the so-called opponent has, how many weapons, how they fight back and how they generally react. It’s just that 20-30 people were sent, 5 returned, and then the information is passed on,” the military man said.
