The Israeli Foreign Ministry was informed about the incident.
Two Israelis were detained at a Belarusian airport after a local officer confiscated their mobile phones and found them containing photographs of IDF reservists. Today it became known that the detainees were deported to Israel.
“They were detained in disgraceful conditions — and were ultimately denied entry into the country,” Channel 13 reported.
Last night it became known that after arriving in Belarus, the men proceeded to passport control, where their mobile phones were confiscated. Even though the men were not in the photo, the officer confiscated their phones and took them into custody, the story said.
The Israelis remained in custody until a representative from the Israeli consulate came to them and brought food.
“We got to passport control and were detained because we had Israeli passports. Our phones were taken away, and one of the officers looked through all the photographs until he found photographs of some reservists. Although it was not us, he detained us and sent us to the detention center,” said one of the arrested Israelis.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry was informed about the incident.
“The case is known and is being considered, the consulate in Minsk is in contact with the Israelis and even visited them in the institution and provided them with food,” the Foreign Ministry commented on the situation.
