Will Belarusian Women Be Called Up For Conscript Military Service?

The Ministry of Defense made a strange statement.

Belarusian girls are allegedly asking for the right to be called up for military service. This was stated by Assistant Minister of Defense for Ideological Work in the Armed Forces Leanid Kasinski on the air of the pro-government channel “Belarus 1”.

“Today we are receiving appeals, and they are even coming from our legislators, to consider the issue of (...) the girls are asking to give them the right to conscription for military service,” Kasinski noted.

The current legislation of our country, the deputy minister explained, does not prohibit women from serving in the army, but so far only on a contract basis.
