The invaders will "go" to the strategic city.

Ukrainian Defence Intelligence Chief Kyrylo Budanov described the situation at the front as "difficult, but under control."

He said this in an interview with the German TV channel ARD, noting that the Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine will begin at the end of May.

"We expect Russia's offensive operations to intensify in late spring and early summer. Especially in Donbas," Budanov said.

According to him, the target of the Russian offensive will be the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.

“They will move a little closer to the Chasiv Yar. They will move in the direction of the city of Pokrovsk, in the strategic direction of Pokrovsk," Budanov said.

It is noted that Pokrovsk is located about 70 kilometers northwest of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. At the same time, Budanov does not expect any major changes at the front before the start of this Russian offensive.

"The situation is quite complicated, but it is under control," the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine added.

Despite various military experts' opinions, Budanov believes a Ukrainian offensive is possible this year. He did not want to talk about this anymore, since that’s the responsibility of the General Staff.
