Was Lukashenka Deceived With Space Flight?

  • 8.04.2024, 12:21

The dictator had to humiliate himself for a useless service.

Belarusian state propaganda is shamelessly lying to attach importance to the flight of the Belarusian Maryna Vasileuskaia into space. In fact, Lukashenka did not benefit from his idea, remaining indebted to Putin.

Recently, members of the crew of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft landed in Kazakhstan. Citizen of Belarus Maryna Vasileuskaia was among them. She spent 14 days in space.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka, who was personally engaged in bringing his idea to life, said:

“Emotions are the hardest because the night was sleepless. I watched the undocking of the lander live. "

Meanwhile, all the forces of the state media and propagandists are thrown to attach importance to Maryna Vasileuskaia's flight into space. The crazy regime's actions are off the charts: billboards with the statement "Space is ours" were placed in Minsk.

And here is what the state news agency BelTA wrote:

"For two weeks, the flight into space of the first Belarusian Maryna Vasileuskaia was followed not only by the whole of Belarus but also by the whole of Russia. And in the rest of the world, they looked with interest at how a representative of a small European country, not being a professional astronaut, confidently and courageously, and at the same time smiling charmingly, overcame all the difficulties of space flight. "

UDF explains what is wrong with these statements.

Vasilevskaya is a space tourist – the world does not know about her

To begin with, it is worth noting that Vasilevskaya is not a professional astronaut, but a space tourist. The stewardess of Belavia could not acquire the necessary skills to work as an astronaut in a fairly short time, it was largely about her survival and that she did not interfere with the work of others.

This fact is not what propaganda diligently conceals, but rather hushes up, because sometimes there are mentions that Vasileuskaia is not a pro.

"Space is ours" is a total nonsense. Such a statement seems to be a giggle, taking into account all the circumstances.

The statement that Vasileuskaia's flight was allegedly "watched by the whole of Russia" is also greatly exaggerated. If you study the stories of federal Russian TV channels, it turns out that the Belarusians talked about the flight for several seconds.

And there is no need to say that "in the rest of the world they looked at Vasilevskaya's flight with interest". The English-language page about it in Wikipedia is made of only translated messages from Belarusian and Russian state media.

In general, the world does not know about the flight of the crew of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft at all. From what we managed to find: in the Associated Press report, it was only at the very end that they briefly mentioned that Vasileuskaia was "the first astronaut of her country."

What did Lukashenka gain from this?

This is not an easy question to answer. It is unlikely that there is a serious effect even on the audience of the Yabatski [Lukashenka followers - Ed.]. If we imagine that Vasilevskaya would really have been the first astronaut of Belarus (and before her, during the Soviet era, Piotr Klimuk, Vladimir Kovalenok and Valentina Tereshkova, born in a Belarusian family, in modern times, we should not forget about Russian citizen Oleg Novitsky), then it is unclear what this gives the country and its citizens in the 21st century, when space flights have become common.

Vasileuskaia was trained by Russian specialists and made a flight thanks to the Russian infrastructure.

There is no need to talk about the external effect at all. They failed to present the flight to Vasileuskaia as an achievement of the Lukashenka regime.

Meanwhile, Lukashenka admitted that this event was a service for him from Vladimir Putin.

"Putin was good, he helped. They financed the preparation and launch. This, I will tell you, is not a cheap event. It would have cost $70 million, this flight. They are good, they accepted ours in their crew, and they have prepared our girls," Lukashenka said.

It turns out that Lukashenka humiliated himself in Putin’s eyes so that Russia would finance Vasileuskaia's flight, but he did not gain anything from it. And the next time the head of the Russian Federation asks Lukashenka to provide a service, he will not be able to refuse.
