Lithuania Holds Presidential Elections And Referendum On Multiple Nationality

Eight candidates compete for the post.
On Sunday, May 12, presidential elections and a referendum on the legalization of multiple nationality are held in Lithuania. Delfi reported.
It is noted that the polling stations opened at 7:00 local time (8:00 Minsk time). Voting will last until 20:00.
Eight candidates are competing for the post of President of Lithuania:
incumbent President Gitanas Nausėda,
prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė,
a member of the Freedom Party, former Chairman of the Constitutional Court Dainius Žalimas,
self-nominated candidate Ignas Vėgėlė,
self-nominated candidate Eduardas Vaitkus,
Giedrimas Jeglinskas from the opposition Union of Democrats "For Lithuania"
chairman of the Labour Party Andrius Mazuronis.
The winner will be the candidate who receives more than 50% of the votes. If none of the politicians wins the majority of votes, the second round of elections will be held in two weeks. The one who wins the majority during the second round will be considered the winner.
During the first round of the presidential election, a referendum on multiple nationality is also held.
