Solovyov Caught Up In High-profile Scandal Over Money For Russian Troops

The propagandist's foundation laundered $1.2 million by supplying useless junk to the front.

A scandal has erupted in the Russian infospace. Z-blogger Pozdnyakov accused Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov and his personal SVR-fund of misusing donations collected allegedly to help the troops, writes "Focus".

A Russian blogger published a post online with photos of "military buggies" that allegedly collected 100 million rubles (about $1.2 million) from gullible Russian citizens. However, most of the money remained in the fund's accounts, and the rest was spent on what Pozdnyakov called "useless junk."

"It's just metal, wood and a motorcycle. In the end, we didn't even send this disgrace to the lbs. They're just rotting and rusting away in the rear now. It's gonna get stuck in the first puddle. And its speed is very small, all fpv will be yours," he wrote in the comments to the photos of rotting under the open sky equipment.

It should be noted that the "SVR Fund" really opened a collection for 100 million rubles for "transport that helps fighters on the front line." The August 1 post says that the vehicles are supposedly being tested. Although if Pozdnyakov's photos are to be believed, some of the equipment is currently idling near buildings typical of rural areas.

The publication was brought to the attention of former Ukrainian Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko. On his Telegram page, he wrote that the most popular Russian TV host is helping the AFU to beat the occupiers by "supplying the front with artisanal drone target buggies." The equipment itself is completely unsuitable for the front, but Solovyov has laundered millions on it, the Ukrainian politician emphasized.

Defence Blog columnists on this occasion noted that the scandal with the Kremlin propagandist demonstrates what critics call "ostentatious patriotism," when projects worth millions of dollars do not actually benefit Russian troops. However, at the time of publication, Solovyov himself had not responded to the accusations in public.
