You can see the glow from afar.
A new drone attack has been complained about in Russia. Explosions, in particular, were heard in the Russian city of Yaroslavl on the night of December 12.
Local residents claim that one of Russia's largest refineries, Yaroslavnefteorgsintez, was attacked, and a fire broke out on the site. Images from the scene were collected by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.
What is known
Local publics started writing about the explosions in Yaroslavl around 4 a.m. Kiev time. They counted "more than five" "loud claps" over the region.
The major Z-publics that picked up the theme wrote about "five to seven" explosions - but not over the entire region, but only over the city. The propagandists were also puzzled by an "incomprehensible rumble in the sky" over Yaroslavl, which was "attacked for the second day in a row."
"Yaroslavl, locals report that the local oil refinery was attacked," Exilenova+ summarized the content of the comments Russians left after the explosions.
An independent Russian publication ASTRA also wrote about the attack on the refinery, quoting locals.
The Yaroslavl airport announced "Plan Cover": planes stopped taking off and landing from 3 a.m.
The local governor announced the "drone danger" at 03:21 Kiev time.
While propagandists were writing about "smoke over one of the districts" - numerous images have appeared online showing its source: a large fire reportedly over a local oil refinery. Avs noted, not without a share of sarcasm, that the Russians were in no hurry to extinguish the refinery, attaching to the message a photo with fire trucks standing along the road.
The attacked refinery is among the five largest in Russia
The Yaroslavnefteorgsintez refinery (alternatively named Slavnafta-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez, Slavnafta-YANOS), which has come under another attack, is the largest refinery in northern Russia.
The fuel and oil enterprise specializes in refining oil products and is one of the five largest refineries in Russia in terms of primary oil refining, as well as the largest refinery in the Central Federal District.
The main shareholders of the enterprise are Gazprom Neft and Rosneft.
The company produces dozens of petroleum products: motor gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, jet fuel and fuel oil; base, compression, gear and industrial oils; bitumen - road, roofing and construction bitumen; paraffin wax products, aromatic hydrocarbons.
The consumers of the plant's products include almost all large enterprises of the Central and North-West regions of Russia, as well as airports, Northern Railway Department and military-industrial complex facilities.
