Putin's "Politburo" Is Forced To Decide His Fate

  • 24.08.2025, 10:29

Stopping the war will no longer be the decision of the head of the Kremlin.

Putin needs war and Russia's stagnation to rule until his death, not to hand over power and vast wealth to a successor who, as is customary in Russian history, will immediately throw Putin's still-cold corpse out of the local mausoleum.

Putin is well aware that he is no longer a leader, an arbiter of the nation, or a "man of fortune," but an old, acrimonious old man who lost a terrible war in Ukraine. Russia's elite and "silent majority" already strongly suspect that Putin is a loser who is dragging the country into the abyss. But, by tradition, it is not customary in Russia to interfere in the course of a historical catastrophe.

That is why the "politburo" that has formed in recent years near and around Putin will not wait for favors from Putin, but will be forced to decide his fate before he begins another purge of his entourage. Stopping the war will no longer be Putin's decision.

Putin's personal power is much more important to him than the fate of Russia.
