Civilians and military personnel who had been held captive by the Russian Federation for several years have returned to Ukraine.

Ukraine's Security Service showed an exclusive video of the prisoner-of-war exchange with Russia on August 24. Ukrainians, civilians and military personnel who had been held captive by the Russian Federation for several years have returned home.

- Today's exchange is the result of the work of the Joint Center for the Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and other authorized structures, which fulfilled the instruction of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky," the report said.

The SBU confirmed that the exchange resulted in the return home of military personnel from the Armed Forces, National Guard and State Border Guard Service. Many civilians have also been returned, including journalists held since 2022, a military medic and the former mayor of Kherson.
