Media: Romania Checks "Russian Trace" In Oil Pollution From Azerbaijan
- 8.08.2025, 22:16
A shipment of oil from Azerbaijan was contaminated with organic chlorides.
Romanian authorities are considering a scenario in which Russia intentionally, as part of hybrid warfare, contaminated a large amount of Azerbaijani oil supplied to OMV Petrom's refinery.
Romanian portal G4Media has learned this from sources, writes European Pravda.
The batch of oil from Azerbaijan was contaminated with organic chlorides. The concentration of chloride, according to G4Media, was high enough to seriously damage the Romanian refinery.
- The oil contamination could have been carried out through a relatively simple sabotage operation by Russia on a section of the oil pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. - Ed.) more than 1700 km long, G4Media writes citing sources.
The Romanian Ministry of Energy was informed about the problems with Azerbaijani oil by OMV Petrom.
