Incommunicado With The Neighbors

  • 16.09.2025, 11:16

Why customs officials in neighboring countries don't want to deal with the regime.

Lukashenko, who pretended for three days that he was not concerned about the border closed by Poland, raised the issue. However, as always, he made it clear that he is not very concerned about the closed border, but it would be better if it were open, writes planbmedia.io.

"Ready to resume work"

Lukashenko received the chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky with a report on September 15.

"Well, what happened at your border? They say you don't want to let road transport through. I don't know whether it's there or back. There are queues. What are the Poles doing? Professional judgment. Not political, but professional. What's going on with them? That's the first question. I want you to report to me on the situation at the border from the customs point of view," asked Lukashenko.

We have everything bad at the border, and you, the guarantor? 30 years of stability have borne another fruit: the border is closed indefinitely. And the eastern friend will try to keep Belarus in isolation as long as possible - so they sleep better in the bunker.

And while one head in Minsk is not too worried about how Belarusians can now travel to the big world, the customs assure that they are ready to start working at all checkpoints even tomorrow.

"The Belarusian side is ready to resume work at any checkpoint, if neighboring countries decide to do so. If it is the good will of our neighbors, we are ready. We have personnel, and everything is still in place. Whatever border crossing point is opened, we are ready literally in hours to take a workplace and carry out the passage and control. Let's hope that the checkpoints will be opened. There should be no other way between neighbors," said Vladimir Orlovsky.

Incomunicado with neighbors

The head of the State Customs Committee added that Belarus has practically no contacts with Poland, Lithuania or Latvia for several years. There are only contacts at the border directly at checkpoints - and only related to technical issues.

What happened? Why do customs officers of neighboring countries do not want to deal with you? Everyone knows the answers to all these questions, but they are unlikely to help solve the problem with the border in the coming years.

Even if Poland opens the border at least for trains or trucks after the end of the exercises, the problem of ordinary Belarusians will not be solved. They will remain in isolation for an indefinite period of time, which may be prolonged. At the same time, there are no questions to Poland - no one wants to have such dangerous neighbors. It is a natural desire to isolate oneself from them by all possible means. Belarusians themselves would like to have nothing to do with such a center of making crazy decisions, but for now they have no choice. So we should hope for the best - opening of the border at least by the end of September/October/year. But prepare for the worst.
