The Ukrainian president spoke about the progress of trilateral talks in the UAE.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has reported on the progress of trilateral talks in the UAE. According to him, the Ukrainian, American and Russian delegations have already had their first meetings, and this is an important step, as this format of negotiations has not been held for a long time.
He said this in an evening address on Friday, January 23.
The delegations are talking about parameters for ending the war. However, he said, it is too early to draw conclusions today.
"Now they [delegations] should have at least part of the answers from Russia, and the main thing is that Russia should be ready to end this war, which it itself started. Ukrainian positions are clear," he said.
The president emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation is constantly in touch - they are the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, the chairman of the OPU Kyryl Budanov, the chairman of the Servant of the People faction David Arahamiya, the first deputy head of the OPU Sergey Kislitsa. Tomorrow, the Chief of the General Staff Andriy Gnatov and a representative of the GUR Mikhail Skibitsky will also join the talks.
"It is too early to draw conclusions about the content of the talks today - we will see how the conversation goes tomorrow and what the results will be. It is necessary that not only the Ukrainian desire to end this war, to achieve full security, but also that Russia should somehow develop a similar desire," Zelensky said.
