Construction Of A Large Military Training Ground Started In Gomel Region

It has become known where a large military training ground will be built in Homiel region. This is the area of the station "Yakimovka" in Rechitsa district. Work there is already underway, "Flagstaff" found out.
In early 2026, confirmation of this assumption appeared in the state procurement. In the tender announced by Dorstroimontazhtrest OJSC for services on cutting down forests and bushes, and stump grubbing, it is mentioned about the preparation of the site for "the construction of a landfill in Gomel region". It is indicated that this is the 3rd stage of construction: "Engineering and transportation infrastructure. Railway transportation in the area of the railway station "Yakimovka". It was not possible to find data on earlier stages of this construction in open sources.
Information about the beginning of forest clearing was confirmed with the help of space imagery. The photo from the Copernicus Browser service shows the changes that have taken place over the last month.
The felling and uprooting work is due to be completed by the end of March 2026. Just over 1 million rubles has been allocated for this. In general, according to the State Investment Program, 15 million rubles have been allocated for the construction of the landfill in 2026. The main works will be carried out in the following years, as can be seen from the planned funds: in 2027 and 2028 - 150 million and 245.7 million respectively.
Reminder, the same applies to the military camp, which is being built nearby - near the village of Pribor, Gomel district. The main works are scheduled for future years.
The first purchases for the construction of the landfill began in the middle of 2025, among which is another tender for logging, announced in late December by Gomel DSK for the amount of more than 8.3 million rubles.
Interestingly, the tenders are accompanied by a confidentiality agreement, according to which a fine of 100 basic units for each fact of disclosure of details of the project.
It is difficult to judge the size of the landfill at present. But it is possible to get an idea of the size of the landfill by the allocated funding for cutting forest and shrub vegetation. If in 2024, 1.48 million rubles was allocated for the felling of forests on the territory of 60 hectares for the military camp near Pribor, now 16.5 million rubles have been allocated for felling in three purchases.
In addition, work on the construction of engineering and transportation infrastructure, in particular, the highway from Yakimovka station to the administrative and training areas, is beginning. Gomel DSK is still requesting price proposals in this regard.
The purpose of the military training ground is probably related to the reinforcement of the south of the country, which was required after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, from the territory of Belarus. On August 1, 2025, former commander of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces Vadim Denisenko indicated that the newly created 37th Independent Airborne Assault Guards Brigade is planned to be stationed in the Gomel region. A military town with a tactical field in Gomel district (near the village of Pribor) is being built for it. The military training ground is probably a continuation of the same plans.
