Number Of Centenarians In Belarus Revealed

Minsk and the Minsk Region are at the top of the list.

There are 660 people aged 100 and older living in Belarus, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, published in honor of Senior Citizens’ Day. Nine out of ten centenarians are women. The highest number of centenarians is in Minsk and the Minsk Region: 113 people in each.

In total, there are about 1.677 million people over the age of 65 in the country, accounting for 18.5% of the population. Women make up two-thirds (66%) of this age group. Another approximately 45,000 Belarusians have passed the age of 90, with 86% of them being women. There are 8,300 people over the age of 90 living in Minsk.

The number of retirees in the country exceeds 2.4 million, of whom more than 2.1 million have reached the standard retirement age. A total of 31.1 billion rubles has been allocated for pension payments in 2026, which is 5 billion more than the previous year.

Since February, old-age pensions have increased by an average of 10%, and since September—by another 5% or so. The average old-age pension for a non-working retiree is currently 1,126 rubles.

Nearly one in four Belarusians continues to work after reaching retirement age. According to the Ministry of Labor, there are 489,000 such people, or 23% of retirees of the corresponding age.
