The Belarusian Army has adopted the “Shafran” laser system, which is reportedly capable of taking down drones at a distance of hundreds of meters. This was announced by the chairman of the republic’s State Military-Industrial Committee Dmitry Pantus on the “Belarus-1” television channel.
“We are continuing to work on its modernization with the aim of increasing its power, range, and other tactical and technical characteristics,” he said.
Pantus also reported that over the past six months, two modern, domestically produced stations for detecting low-flying targets have been adopted into service. According to him, the agency constantly monitors trends in the development of electronic warfare systems.
Last year, the “Shafran” combat laser was deployed during the Russian-Belarusian “Zapad-2025” exercises. According to the announcer commenting on the events at the test range, the mobile system destroys small drones at a distance of up to one kilometer. The engagement time is less than ten seconds, and the crew consists of three people.
