It has been revealed how the funds will be allocated.
The European Union has allocated an additional 2.86 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing the press service of the European Commission and the Telegram channel of Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.
These funds will be used to purchase drones, air defense systems, missiles, radar stations, electronic warfare systems, and ammunition.
As noted by the European Commission, as Ukraine prepares for its fourth winter since Russia’s full-scale invasion, the urgent delivery of defense equipment will ensure that its armed forces can protect civilians and cities from Russian attacks.
“Europe’s unwavering support is more important than ever to help Ukraine defend its airspace and save lives,” emphasized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Since 2022, the EU and its member states have provided Ukraine with a total of 231.5 billion euros in support, including 3.8 billion euros from funds derived from frozen Russian assets.
Koretsky noted that this support is vital amid intensifying Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
“More drones, air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition mean more reliable protection for our people and enhanced capabilities for our defenders on the front lines,” the Ukrainian prime minister emphasized.
According to him, the Ukrainian government continues to work with European partners to ensure that the remaining defense funding is provided without delay.
