The President of Ukraine commented on the Trump administration's latest actions regarding Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, due to the U.S. position, Ukraine risks losing a strong partner, and the American authorities, in his view, risk ending up on the wrong side of history.
He made these remarks in an interview with one of Britain’s most influential journalists, Piers Morgan, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We are losing, losing a strong partner. That’s my opinion,” Zelenskyy said.
“Are you losing America?” Morgan asked. “Yes, but not because of us,” the president replied.
He emphasized that Ukraine cannot afford to be weak, as its survival depends on it.
“We simply won’t sell out our country. Listen, for us, this isn’t a business. This is our life; our country is our body, our home, our children—and this is very important to us. That’s exactly why it hurts so much,” the president said.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is fine with the U.S. president’s desire to take a middle ground, but, in his view, it’s important to stick to that position rather than switch to the wrong side.
“I think his advisers are wrong. I don’t know exactly who is pressuring him, but this is not the right side—it’s not the right side of history,” the head of state added.
