The massive fire is visible from various parts of the city of the same name.

In the Voronezh Region of the Russian Federation explosions were heard at the Borisoglebsk military airfield, according to online reports. Local authorities issued a missile alert, while social media posts discussed a possible strike by Ukrainian “Flamingo” cruise missiles and showed a glow above the aircraft. “Focus” has compiled information on what is known about the nighttime attack on a Russian military facility located 350 km from Ukraine.

The first reports of strikes in the “Borisoglebsk” area appeared around 10:40 p.m. on October 14, according to the Telegram channel Exilenova+, which specializes in publishing videos showing strikes on Russia. Footage from the scene shows flashes of fire following the strikes and a massive blaze that was visible from various parts of the city of the same name.

Videos have appeared online from a resident of Borisoglebsk who shared his impressions of the explosions. According to the Russian man, a weapon flew over his house: he didn’t see it, but “something awesome flew by.”

The "Borisoglebsk" airfield may have been struck by a dozen "Flamingo" missiles, according to the publication "Censor.net," citing Russian OSINT sources. However, it is noted that this information requires clarification, as there has been no official confirmation from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Borisoglebsk” is a Russian Armed Forces airfield in the Voronezh Oblast of the Russian Federation, located about 350 km from Ukraine. The airfield serves as a deployment site for Su-34 fighter jets, which drop cluster bombs on Ukrainian settlements near the border and on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions on the front lines. In addition, Su-35S and Su-30SM aircraft, Yak-130 combat-training aircraft, and Su-25 ground-attack aircraft are also based there.

Explosions in Russia — details of the October 15 attack

The governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexander Gusev, confirmed that the region had come under missile fire. At around 9:50 p.m., the Russian official wrote on Telegram that a missile threat had been declared in the region. At the same time, a drone strike was underway, and the missile threat lasted for an hour. Gusev warned Russians not to post images of the damage caused by the strikes, but did not officially mention the attack on the airfield.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet released a report on the nighttime strike against Ukraine, but as early as 7:34 a.m., it acknowledged the Russian attack on civilian port infrastructure in the Odesa region.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian monitoring groups reported other targets struck by the Defense Forces on the night of October 15. In particular, they reported explosions at the Ryazan Oil Refinery and a fire in Rostov, which has been burning for a day following the explosion of an oil tank.

It should be noted that Ukrainian weapons had previously struck the Borisoglebsk airfield, from which Su-34s take off to carry out strikes on the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as along the front line in the east. One of the previous strikes occurred in July 2026: OSINT analysts geolocated the impact sites and reported that an airbase and a nearby oil depot may have been on fire.
