A successful strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield.
On the night of October 15, the Ukrainian Navy struck a Russian airfield in the Voronezh region. Six Su-34M bombers were destroyed.
This was reported by Charter97.org citing a link to the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The strike was carried out by a “Neptune” coastal missile system against the “Borisoglebsk” military airfield.
In addition to the aircraft, equipment supporting flight operations was destroyed. Repeated explosions and a fire were reported on the airfield’s grounds. The Navy states that the information is still being verified.
Why the Su-34M Is Dangerous
The Su-34M can carry several guided and high-explosive bombs at once, as well as various types of missiles. It is one of the main assets of the Russian Air Force for delivering guided airstrikes against Defense Forces positions and frontline settlements.
The Navy notes that destroying these aircraft weakens the enemy’s air force. Therefore, according to them, Russian tactical aviation will operate less frequently in the relevant sectors of the front.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will once again strike Russian oil refineries. According to him, the ban on such strikes has been lifted.
