Lukashenko Was Set Up With Archival Footage

A strange combination of images.

On Mother's Day, a Telegram channel close to the ruler shared archival footage. A young Lukashenko, at his residence in Drozdov, is seen talking with a journalist at a table in the dining room, according to "Solidarnast".

At this moment, footage appears featuring his mother Ekaterina Lukashenko, who is raking the mowed lawn in the garden. The video caption states that the mother of the president-elect “works in the garden out of habit.”

This is hardly surprising; many Belarusian retirees continue to work after entering their well-deserved retirement, both out of habit and out of necessity.

But there’s one catch. The very juxtaposition of the images: Lukashenko sitting at a table—looking content, like the priest in the famous painting of a tea party. And his mother, working in the garden with a rake.
