Callas: Ukraine's Resumption Of Strikes On Russian Oil Refineries Brings Peace Closer

The pressure on Russia must be stepped up.

Ukraine’s decision to resume strikes on Russian oil refineries is entirely justified and beneficial.

This was stated by top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas in comments to reporters ahead of the EU summit, according to a "European Truth" reports from Brussels.

The head of European diplomacy believes that the aggressor state’s oil revenues must be curtailed, and that Ukraine is pursuing precisely this goal by striking Russian oil refineries.

“Most of the funds Russia allocates to the war come from oil revenues. Therefore, by resuming strikes on oil refineries, Ukraine clearly wants this war to end. After all, as you understand, cutting off funding for the war is the only way to achieve this,” she said.

The EU High Representative added that pressure on Russia must be stepped up and expressed her disagreement with those who are putting pressure on Kyiv.

“We believe that to put an end to this war, pressure should be applied to Russia, not to Ukraine, forcing it to capitulate, and we are demonstrating firm resolve on this issue,” she said.

As a reminder, on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the resumption of strikes on Russian oil refineries despite Trump’s demand.
